To reset a Samsung refrigerator, unplug it for about five minutes, then plug it back in — this clears most display glitches and error codes. For a stuck ice maker, use the Test button, and if the fridge isn’t cooling, make sure it isn’t in demo (cooling-off) mode. Here is how to do each.

Full reset

Unplug the fridge or switch off its breaker for five minutes, then restore power. This power-cycles the control board and clears temporary faults and many error codes. Give it a few hours to return to temperature.

Exit demo / cooling-off mode

If the fridge lights up but never cools, it may be in demo mode (used in stores). On most models, hold the top-left and top-right buttons (often “Energy Saver” and “Power Freeze”) for about 8 seconds until it chimes. “OF OF” on the display means demo mode is on.

Reset the ice maker

Press and hold the ice maker’s Test button until it chimes, then let it run a cycle. If it still won’t make ice, the fill tube may be frozen or the module failed — a common Samsung issue we repair often.
